KAYA

Kaya Herstad-Carney is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and vocal arranger with a diverse portfolio career spanning the stage and screen. Fronting the "vaudeville grunge pop" outfit Science of the Lamps, she has headlined festivals and shared stages with artists like John Grant, Marina & The Diamonds, and Bon Jovi at the Royal Variety Show. Her versatile creative work also includes writing award-winning film soundtracks, earning her a Silver Award at the International Independent Film Awards in LA.
As a passionate music educator and artist developer, Kaya brings extensive industry expertise to higher education with a student-centered approach. She currently serves as a senior programme manager at WaterBear and teaches at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). Highly regarded as a vocal authority, she also trains the next generation of vocal coaches through international organisations like Vocology in Practice (ViP) and BAST.

Chris Carney is a Liverpool-based creative industries professional, broadcaster, DJ, performer, educator and festival producer. As co-founder of HCHQ Ltd, he brings together decades of experience in music, live events, theatre, radio, artist development and creative business.
A driving force behind Threshold Festival and an international DJ with The Mixnots, Chris’s work is rooted in independent music culture, practical industry knowledge and a belief in helping creative people build sustainable, authentic careers.
